Pure Joy Catering knows the way to my heart, or should I say my dreams. This particular Sunday afternoon event was impeccable, between the perfect sunny weather, spot on service and literally, all my favorite foods. I turned to the gentleman beside me and asked him to pinch me because I must be in Pure Joy heaven.
Within moments upon entry, the Welcome Bar was in sight. Before I could even think of getting my hands on one of those icy beverages I had a salt rimmed Blood Orange Margarita in hand with a perfectly ripe blood orange garnish. This was a fabulous way to start the afternoon ahead.
There were a number of divine small bites to choose from and each one was specially prepared. The presentation was beautiful, memorable and the staff was so informative and professional. Let’s take a walk through my heavenly afternoon…
First off, passed appetizers…
~Wedges of Grilled Tortillas with Brie, Cherries & Caramelized Onions with a Mango Confetti Garnish~ Let me guess…I had you at Brie?
~Cocktail Hamburgers with Mini Vanilla Milk Shakes~ These bite sized burgers had all the trimmings; cheese, lettuce, tomato and a gherkin. There were even freshly cut, mini shoe string french fries to complete the mini dish.
~Lobster Beignets~ These delectable lobster bites were presented to me on a spoon and were bathing in the most amazingly dreamy passion fruit dip. The flavors danced together seamlessly.
~Fresh Salmon Tartar in a Crisp Baby Red Potato~ The freshness of the salmon meets comfort with the perfectly cooked potato in this appetizer.
Next Up, small plates…
~Roasted Local Beets on Arugula, Goat Cheese and Candied Pecans with Blood Orange Vinaigrette and Tiny French Onion Soup~
~Portobello Mushroom Raviolis with Browned Sage Butter, Farmer’s Market Veggies with a Drizzle~ This is such a great vegetarian option and the bright flavors of farmer’s market fresh ingredients really shine through.
~Somer’s Farm Blood Orange Marmalade Glazed Oven Roasted Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and a Tomato Herb Vase~ I truly loved the Blood Orange theme.
~Roasted Mustard Crusted Tenderloin with Mustard Cream, Almond crusted Sea Bass with Lemon Beurre Blanc, Grilled Parmesan Rosemary Polenta Triangles with Truffle Oil & Shaved Parmesan~ This dish speaks for itself.
Now, I’m too full for dessert…
Pure Joy Catering thinks of everything. Dessert was a takeaway. It’s almost as if they can read my mind. They sent me off with a “Kiss Goodbye.”
~Sweet and Cheesey Kiss Good-Bye; a New York Style Cheesecake Baked into a Mason Jar with Local Blueberries and a Crisp Butter Pecan & Oat Topping~
You may need to ask the person next to you to pinch you too because I’m sure you’re dreaming of all these delicious morsels of food. If you’re having an event and you need an amazingly array of food, Pure Joy Catering is the way to go. Give them a call! (805)963-5766
